Comment: High school is a complex period in life.  For this backward, shy kid, raised in a fundamentalist, apocalyptic religious cult, which isolated its members from "worldy" friendships and associations, high school wasn't the opportunity that it should have been.  I feel that I missed out getting to know many of my classmates.  I freed myself from that religion in short order, and life has been one hell of a wonderful adventure.





Immediately after high school, I started an EMT course at Rio, which led to ambulance/prehospital work, and later to a rewarding and challenging 32 year career as an RN specializing in Emergency care.  Acitivities have included distance cycling, scuba, and skiing.





I married my high school girl, and we stayed together for many years, but am currently divorced, no children.





Southern Cal is a paradise, here I have stayed, living in OC.

Comment: Wow, 35 years seems like yesterday.  I hope to make the reunion.  I heard about another grandson added to the family.  That now makes 9 on my son Mike's side of the family.  My daughter Laura is 18 and is a rising senior a Forbush High in East Bend NC.  I noticed a lot of my buds are a gray as I am.  Well lets root for a freeway world series and go Angels.   Oh and for all that are wondering if there really is a Mayberry there is!!!  The city is called Mount Airy NC.  About 30 minutes north of my location.  US highway 52 in Surry county was renamed Andy Griffith Parkway from the stokes county line to the Virginia border.  So yes there really is a Mayberry.

Comment: I have spent most of my life after high school in the golf industry.  I would guess that is really what I wanted to do for my career when I was still in school, I love golf and the people who are involved in the biz.  I feel blessed to have been able to make a living with something I am so passionate about.


I have been married to the same lady for over 20 years and we have a son who is 20 and a daughter who is 17, going on 25.  We live in Chino Hills, which is not so far from our family in Whittier and Montebello.


I would love to hear from anyone that remembers me from Calhi, those 4 years were very special to me.

Comment: What a wonderful reunion, Thanks Monica and all the staff. The first highlight was seeing caoch Ron Hales taking tickets on the Haws side at the football game! He still looks young, That because he was only 29 in 1974. The school tour was great also, though it was hard remembering the teachers that had such an impact on me that are gone. Cornel Ahmanson, Bob Flutot, Ed Vanderhoven, to name a few.  Mr. A and Bob Flutot in the auto and industrial arts area had a great impact on my future and I think of them almost daily. If you recall in High School I drove a very old car, a 1930 Model A Ford coupe (my first car), and often drove my fathers 1969 Ford F100 that I overhauled the automatic transmission in Mr. A's shop class at 16 (the first car I ever drove). I still have both of them. I also have the car I came home from Murphy Memorial hospital in when I was born. My collection is now extensive and this just names a few. There was a student, I think last name Thorwalson (class of 1973?) that rode a (1930 Nimbus? motorcycle) to school and would Love to get in touch with him. Where is Glen Minert! I also give tours at the Whittier Museum 1 Sat or Sun a month and would Love to give any of you a tour. All you have to do is E-mail me.

Comment: After Cal -Hi spent 4 years in the Navy. Got out in 78 and have been a machinist ever since. Married once, lasted about a year. Spent 14 years raising another woman's kids and am now single again. Moved to AZ 3 years ago and am having a great time. Hope to make it to the reunion.
